About the Transmode TM-301 Optical Transport Platform

The Transmode TM-301 is a low-power, high-density metro packet optical transport platform that forms part of the XTM Series which also includes the TM-102ii and TM-3000. Featuring a range of unique benefits, including multi-service 4G/5G synchronisation domain support within the same chassis, alongside low latency and scalability for metro access and aggregation networks, this popular transport platform is both versatile and efficient allowing for easy user management. 

Using both single-slot transponders and muxponders combined with ROADM’s and packet optical transport switches, the TM-301 is capable of drawing as little as 20w of power per 100Gb/s service, whilst also minimising the overall footprint of the unit. These factors combine to make it an extremely efficient and cost effective platform to run for businesses that wish to lower their power usage without having a large and bulky setup.  

The Transmode TM-301 is capable of scaling beyond 400 Gb/s and supports open network principles whilst utilising dense wave-length-division multiplexing (DWDM). This level of flexibility gives users the opportunity to find the right multi service solution to match the needs of their business. The Transmode TM-301 also benefits from the ability to utilise delivery of Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET) and Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) making it an ideal solution for businesses wishing to seamlessly migrate to a new platform from their existing TDM networks. 

Transmode was created in Sweden in 2000 offering solutions for high speed optical networks. In 2015 Transmode was purchased by U.S. company Infinera. This means the Transmode TM-301 can often be found listed as the Infinera TM-301. At TXO we stock, repair and refurbish parts for both Infinera and Transmode TM-301 setups, however, components are cross-compatible between setups regardless of which OEM they were manufactured by.
