AMU stands for Access Multiplexer Universal and formerly came under the Lucent Metropolis brand. It is a STM-1/4 and STM-4/16 SDH multiplexer. It can be used as terminal mux or add-drop mux. The tributaries facing business and residential customers can be various low bit rate including E1 and 10/100 ethernet. They were often deployed together with the Lucent 1643 AMS. Lucent 1655 AMU Repair Services
