About the Cisco ONS-15454 MSPP
The Cisco ONS-15454 MSPP is a Series Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP) produced by San Francisco based technology company, Cisco. Available in two options, the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP Multiservice Transport Platform and the Cisco ONS 15454 SDH Multiservice Provisioning Platform. The Cisco ONS 15454 MSPP is a flexible and scalable platform suitable for deployment through various network topologies such as mesh, ring and point-to-point configurations making it incredibly versatile in the number of deployment situations for service providers and enterprise level businesses.
The ONS 15454 platform delivers high-speed optical transport capabilities, enabling the efficient transmission of large volumes of data. It supports a range of optical interfaces, including OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4, OC-48/STM-16, OC-192/STM-64, Gigabit Ethernet, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet as well as support for various optical connector types, such as LC, SC, and FC.
Utilising Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), the Cisco ONS-15454 has excellent long-distance transmission capabilities, whilst supporting high intensity bandwidth applications without being affected by latency or signal degradation.

The Cisco ONS-15454 also supports other management protocols such as Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), meaning it can easily be integrated into other network solutions.

On 18th December 2015 Cisco announced they would be ending hardware and software support for the Cisco ONS-1545 on the 31st December 2021. After which they would no longer offer any support for businesses utilising this platform.
