About the Cisco 7200 VXR Series Router
The Cisco 7200 VXR series of routers are part of a family of high performance enterprise routers, developed by American technology company Cisco which was initially released in the mid-90’s. The 7200 VXR Series includes the 7201, 7202, 7204 and 7206 VXR amongst others.
Based on a modular design for greater degrees of flexibility, the Cisco 7200 VXR gives network operators greater levels of scalability when establishing their networks, with a wide range of deployment options available due to its compact form factor and high port density.
Able to utilise up to 2 million packets per second processing capabilities and a range of service adapters including NxDS0 to Gigabit ethernet networking, and a high number of IP services, the Cisco 7200 VXR series of routers is perfect for operators that need an easy to operate service aggregation solution.
Supporting high-density LAN and WAN interfaces, broadband subscriber services aggregations, digital T1/E1 TDM trunk termination for voice, video and data as well as light-density Layer 2 Ethernet switching, the Cisco 7200 VXR can integrate different functions that previously would have been performed by multiple systems. This makes it a cost-effective solution for businesses that need to upgrade their existing infrastructure.
The Cisco 7200 VXR router is capable of utilising multiple VPN Gateways through the utilisation of a dedicated VPN Service Aggregation module, meaning it can offer hardware assisted encryption alongside other high-level security features such as firewalls, key generation and compression services.
With a full range of connectivity options such as Ethernet 10BASE-T, Gigabit Ethernet, POS (Packet over SONET) single mode and multi-mode ATM and synchronous serial ISDN, BRI, PRI, T3, E3 and HSSI, the Cisco 7200 VXR series routers offer scalable density and multiple applications for network operators.
Featuring a Multiservice Exchange (MIX), the router chassis of the Cisco 7200 VXR was able to switch DS0 time slots across the midplane to each port adapter slot. This allowed the VX midplane to support two full-duplex 8.192-Mbps streams, with each stream capable of supporting up to 128 DS0 channels.
The Cisco 7200 VXR can house several different Network Processing Engines (NPE), including the NPE-G2, NPE-G1, NPE-400. These cutting edge processors, give high performance Layer 3 services at a cost-effective price. The processors themselves support greater levels of network and traffic management as well as enhanced QoS and security features.
The Cisco 7200 series VXR routers, utilise the integrated Cisco IOS software, which is the default software used on all Cisco router platforms. It also supports several network management applications such as Cisco Secure Policy Manager, Cisco VPN device manager, Cisco QoS Device Manager and Secure command-line interface using the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol. This combination of software applications gives network administrators a greater level of control over the traffic being passed through the network, and ultimately helping them save time when trying to identify and rectify network issues.
Cisco announced that the end of sale date for this series of routers would be 29th September 2012, with end of support for the line on 29th September 2017. Despite support no longer being offered for the 7200 VXR series by the OEM, TXO is still able to offer replacement parts and service your existing 7200 network equipment as well as help and advice for many other Cisco routers. Repair capability for the Cisco 7200 VXR
As part of the TXO mission to support the circular economy and to help minimise the environmental impact of telecoms across the supply chain, we offer an extensive and comprehensive third-party repair service that focuses on lifecycle management across a wide range of products and components for the Cisco 7200 VXR as well as others from the wider Cisco router family.
Based out of our advanced engineering facilities in Solihull, our team of experienced system engineers have an in-depth knowledge of core telecom repairs including optical, IP and radio based technologies at circuit board level and conduct approximately 12,000 repairs each year. This ensures the businesses we work with can maintain optimum service levels and minimise disruption to their network. At TXO we are able to refurbish and restore many components for the Cisco 7200 VXR as well as assisting in the procurement of replacement parts as necessary.
To help ensure the longevity of the repairs we carry out and the overall life of your Cisco equipment, we will often conduct several pre-emptive repairs as part of the service we offer. By reconditioning and repairing parts that are susceptible to developing faults we can help prevent any future repairs by refurbishing parts before issues develop.
For occasions where minimal downtime is required we also offer an advance replacement service for many used Cisco parts, which allows us to deliver components to you in advance of a repair being carried out, allowing you to ensure that there is minimal disruption to your business.
