About the Cisco 6945 Unified IP Phone

This Cisco 6945 is a unified IP phone released by San Francisco based technology company, Cisco. It was released as part of the wider series of Cisco 6900 which included the 6911, 6921, 6941 and 6961. They were designed to offer state of the art communication for businesses and had a series of in-built features which made them the perfect addition for small to large businesses alike.

Featuring a Gigabit Ethernet switch with two RJ-45 ports, the Cisco 6945, is suitable for a 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet connection. It has two ports available, one of which for LAN connection, while the other is for connecting downstream Ethernet devices like a PC. The full-duplex speakerphone of the Cisco 6945 IP phone provides flexibility for placing and receiving calls and supports Wideband audio in the handset and headset, using the G.722 codec and adhering to TIA 920. Headset support is available through an RJ-9 interface of the Cisco 6945 IP phone, giving you additional options for placing and receiving calls.

The Cisco 6945 also supports several standard IP protocols including IEEE 802.3af PoE (Class 1), consuming a maximum of 3.84 watts of power, the Cisco Discovery Protocol and IEEE 802.1p/q for tagging and switching as well as signalling protocols such as Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). It is compatible with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition Versions 7.1(2) and later.

Supporting multiple languages including, English, French, German, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and Korean, amongst many others, the Cisco 6945 can easily be integrated into multinational businesses that may have locations across the globe. The Cisco 6945 also meets the hearing-aid-compatible (HAC) requirements set by the American Disabilities Act (ADA) and complies with ADA HAC requirements for magnetic coupling to approved hearing aids and the phone dialling pad also adheres to ADA standards making it an ideal IP phone to support people with hearing difficulties.

Featuring graphical display with a white backlit, monochrome, antiglare 396 x 162 pixel-based screen, the Cisco 6945 allows scrollable access to calling features and text-based XML applications, as well as a range of user-friendly accessibility features which make it easy for operators to complete their required tasks. The Lighted Menu key of the Cisco 6945 IP phone lights up when pressed, providing access to various features such as voicemail messages, call logs, network settings, user preferences, corporate directories, and XML services.

The Cisco 6945 IP phone offers a wide range of security features including image authentication, device authentication, file authentication, signalling authentication, media encryption using Secure Real-Time Transfer Protocol (SRTP), signalling encryption using Transport Layer Security (TLS) Protocol, and encrypted configuration files. However, cryptography is not enabled by default and can only be enabled through a cryptographically enabled CUCM (Cisco Unified Communications Manager). This range of security features makes it the ideal choice for businesses that handle sensitive customer or business data.
