CPL stands for Common Photonic Layer and can be repaired by TXO. This is a modular system that provides mux/demux, ROADM (reconfigurable optical add drop mux) and also amplification. Mux – demux is a pair of devices that combine multiple signals into a single complex signal (Mux) and then recovers the individual strands at the far end by means of demux. The Ciena common photonic layer is often deployed in conjunction with the Ciena 6500 DWDM system. It sits on the network side and aggregates, optimises and switches wavelengths upstream of the client side.
