The Nortel OME 6500 platform packs in a lot of different networking functions and boasts fantastic versatility as a result. It can be installed in both SDH and SONET environments to enable synchronous data transfers no matter your choice of protocol, and it deploys DWDM to increase bandwidth effectively.

The Nortel OME 6500 integrates a complete suite of WSS-based ROADMs for flexible wavelength management and switching, and it supports OTN management and networking.
Nortel’s unit can handle a broad array of services, from lower-speed protocols like DS-1/E-1 and DS-3/E-3 to OC-48/STM-16 and beyond – and it can also support private lines and VPN networks, public access systems and high-speed connectivity configurations.
It delivers full OAM capability across multiple layers to help admins manage systems effectively without compromising network performance, and it doesn’t just have to function as an SDH/SONET platform – it can also be configured to run as an optical transit node with multi-way branching.
