Challenge

A multinational carrier serving enterprise, wholesale and hyperscale customers relied on the ADVA FSP 3000 optical transport platform across its network to support mission-critical connectivity and high-capacity services.

As elements of the installed estate matured, sourcing reliable repair services for specialist FSP 3000 modules became increasingly challenging. Limited repair capability reduced opportunities to extend asset lifecycles, increased dependence on replacement hardware and created risks around equipment availability, operational costs and long-term network resilience.

Rather than replacing valuable optical transport assets, the customer wanted a trusted engineering partner capable of developing a sustainable repair capability that would keep existing equipment in service for longer.

Solution

TXO undertook a detailed engineering development programme at its Solihull repair facility to establish an in-house repair capability for the ADVA FSP 3000 platform.

Working through a structured engineering process, our specialists:

  • Analysed common failure modes across selected FSP 3000 modules.
  • Identified and sourced specialist electronic components required for repair.
  • Developed and validated repeatable repair methodologies.
  • Carried out comprehensive testing and quality assurance to confirm repaired units met operational performance requirements.
  • Established a scalable repair capability delivered entirely from TXO’s UK repair centre.

By investing in this specialist expertise, TXO transformed a platform that had previously proved difficult to support into one backed by a proven, repeatable repair service.

Results

TXO successfully established an in-house repair capability for the ADVA FSP 3000 platform, enabling continued support for critical optical transport infrastructure that had previously been difficult to repair.

As a result, the customer benefits from:

  • Extended lifecycle support for ADVA FSP 3000 equipment.
  • Reduced dependence on replacement hardware.
  • Faster turnaround through specialist UK-based repair services.
  • Improved network resilience through increased availability of repaired assets.
  • Greater return on existing infrastructure investment.
  • Reduced electronic waste by keeping valuable optical transport equipment in service for longer.

By developing engineering capabilities where others could not, TXO continues to help customers maximise the value of existing infrastructure while supporting both operational performance and sustainability objectives.

The ADVA FSP 3000 is just one example of TXO’s specialist engineering expertise. As technologies evolve and OEM support changes, we continue to develop new repair capabilities that help customers keep critical network equipment in service for longer.
