The Alcatel/Nokia 1642 EMC ( Edge Multiplexer Compact) is a small multiplexer for STM-1 for CPE ( Customer Premises Equipment). It was available as either 1RU or 2RU size and is for last mile access and enterprise. It was used to deliver TDM and Ethernet over TDM to enterprises. It can aggregate low speed E1’s and Fast Ethernet (100M).
